 Vision Quest Young Adult Ministry

 Vision Scripture

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: Joel 2:28

Mission

Fulfilling Destiny

The Quest

Seeking

The first step in the vision quest is the desire of the quester to seek out the vision God has for their life.  Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  Do you know what God’s expected end (vision) is for you?  Do you desire to know?

Separating

The second step in the quest is separating from familiar things.  God’s vision for us is always outside of what is familiar or comfortable.  His vision will launch us into new depths where we can no longer deny the hand of God in the quest.  But in order to truly receive the new things God has in the deep, you have to separate from some old things.  Phil 3:13 -14…”forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”  Additionally Hebrews 12:1 says “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us”.  We would like to assist Young adult believers in letting worldly sin be a thing of the past and pursuing the journey toward destiny.

Threshing

The third stage is threshing.  This stage is transformational.  It marks a period when the gift from God begins to manifest itself and the insignificant things (the things of this world) fall away.  During this time the questers begin to align themselves with God’s will for their lives (spirit) vs. their own will (flesh).  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; Eph 3:16

 Incorporating

It’s important to recognize that the vision/gift God has given you is not just for you!  It is to be re-invested into the kingdom for the greater good.  Romans 8:28 says that all things work together for the good of them that love the Lord and are the called according to His purpose.  Well let’s be honest, God could orchestrate everything alone and not involve us - after all, He did speak the world into existence - but He chooses to use us as instruments and vessels to carry out His will.  Someone else’s blessing IS dependent on YOU exercising your gift and fulfilling your vision.  Our prayer is for future generations to be able to see how we are fulfilling destiny and strive to do greater works than these.
